CloudFoundry introduction and lessons learnedNetworking event, Lecture / talk, Exchange of information / round table | -
It's time for our second meetup! After our great first meetup with a more specific topic. We will this time set the focus on CloudFoundry in general. There will be a basic introduction like a CloudFoundry 101 session and a shorter lessens learned session of a startup which switched from Heroku to CloudFoundry.
18:00 - 18:15 > Welcome
18:15 - 19:15 > CloudFoundry 101
19:15 - 19:30 > Lessons learned from Klimpr
19:30 - 21:00 > Q&A with drink and sandwiches/pizza
CloudFoundry 101 In this session Christof Marti covers the fundamental knowledge developers need to have to run and manage applications using CloudFoundry. After demonstrating how easy and fast you can deploy an application, create and attach services and scale it on demand, we will dig deeper and see how the deployment process works in detail using buildpacks and how the components of CloudFoundry interact to keep your application running and healthy. Last but not least you will see, what the platform provides to monitor your application and, if there is time, have a brief outlook what will come in the next releases.
Christof Marti is a Senior Researcher and Lecturer (Docent) at the ZHAW School of Engineering and is leading the PaaS research theme of the InIT Cloud Computing Lab (ICCLab), where he is working with CloudFoundry in research and education.
Klimpr is a simple, easy to use mobile application for Android and iPhone which offers an extremely simple way to pay back friends where the recipient is chosen directly from your phone’s contacts. And in the near future users will also be able to pay using Klimpr directly on the web, in stores and in restaurants.
Raffaele is Klimpr’s coding architect with a proven track record in project management. Prior to joining Klimpr as Co-founder and CTO, Raffaele worked for AdNovum where he developed individual software for large banks and also led the development project that resulted in an award-winning mobile banking application. Raffaele passionately connects the dots between anything from function pointers to pricing strategies.
